1200 x 600mm Security Steel Manhole Cover FACTA AAA

1200 x 600mm Security Steel Manhole Cover FACTA AAA

Description

This 1200 x 600mm security manhole cover and frame is a galvanised steel twin lid solid top access cover designed for locations where chamber security and practical access are the main priorities. It is commonly specified for defence estates, prisons, secure compounds, service corridors and restricted utility areas.

The twin lid format provides easier handling than a single large cover by splitting the opening into two manageable sections. This is especially useful on larger chambers where regular inspection access may be required but lifting weight needs to be reduced.

Each lid sits flush at finished surface level and features an anti-slip tread pattern for pedestrian safety. The neat visible finish makes it suitable for service yards, compounds and paved secure areas where a robust flush cover is preferred.

A built-in security plate with case hardened hasp allows the unit to be padlocked, helping prevent unauthorised access to underground services. This additional barrier is useful where chambers contain electrical, drainage or communications infrastructure.

Manufactured from galvanised mild steel, the CD 1445-SEC offers good corrosion resistance for exposed external environments. Integral vertical fixing tabs help secure the frame to the chamber structure for a stable long term installation.

The 1200 x 600mm clear opening suits larger service ducts and elongated access chambers where standard square covers are too restrictive.

FACTA AAA loading is intended for lightly trafficked areas and occasional light vehicle use, subject to site conditions. It is not suitable for highways, HGV routes or heavy commercial traffic.

Why choose a twin lid cover?

Twin lids reduce single lift weight and make access easier on larger openings. This is useful where covers are opened regularly.

Is this suitable for road traffic?

No. FACTA AAA is for lightly trafficked areas. Roads and regular vehicle traffic usually require higher rated covers.

What is this cover mainly used for?

It is designed for secure access points in defence sites, prisons and restricted compounds where controlled entry is required.

Does it come with a padlock?

No. Padlocks are usually supplied separately so sites can choose their preferred keyed security system.

Is galvanised steel suitable outdoors?

Yes. The galvanised coating helps resist corrosion in exposed external environments.
