450mm Diameter Solid Top Manhole Cover, 3.5 Tonne

The CD 452 is a 450mm diameter solid top manhole cover and frame designed for shallow PPIC inspection chambers and other compatible chamber systems. It provides a visible flush access cover where fast access, secure fitting and low maintenance are preferred over a recessed infill cover.

This model is commonly installed on domestic driveways, gravel areas, tarmac surfaces and landscaped settings subject to light vehicle traffic. With a 35kN load rating, it is intended for cars and similar light duty applications rather than regular heavy commercial traffic.

The polypropylene construction keeps weight lower than comparable metal covers while avoiding rust. This helps with handling during installation and future access. The slip-resistant tread pattern improves footing in wet conditions.

A common specification mistake is ordering by outer size only. The key measurement is the clear opening, which must match the chamber access point. The larger external frame dimension allows the cover to seat correctly onto the chamber.

Dual locking provides added security by locking the lid to the frame and the frame to the chamber.
