600 x 450mm Ductile Iron Manhole Cover and Frame B125

This 600 x 450 recessed opening equivalent solid top manhole cover is a B125 rated ductile iron access cover and frame designed for external installations where regular pedestrian use and occasional vehicle loading are expected. It is suited to private driveways, car parking bays, forecourts, service areas and paved access routes.

Unlike recessed manhole covers, this unit has a solid visible lid rather than an infill tray. That makes it a practical choice where finish matching is less important than durability, simple maintenance access and long service life. The anti-slip tread pattern helps provide grip in wet external conditions.

Manufactured from ductile iron, this cover offers improved toughness and crack resistance compared with traditional grey cast iron. Ductile iron is widely specified for trafficked cover installations because it handles repeated loading well when correctly bedded.

The 600 x 450mm clear opening suits many common drainage and utility chambers. Always measure the internal chamber opening rather than an old lid, as previous manufacturers may vary in outer frame size. This unit has overall frame dimensions of approximately 662 x 512mm with a 40mm frame depth.

B125 loading is suitable for Group 2 applications under BS EN 124, including pedestrian zones, private car parks and areas where occasional vehicles are likely. It is not intended for public highways, constant HGV traffic or heavy commercial yards where D400 or above would normally be specified.

For installation, bed the frame fully on a suitable mortar or concrete surround, level with the finished surface, and support all frame edges evenly to reduce rocking and premature movement.
