600 x 450mm Sealed & Locking Solid Top Manhole Cover, 5 Tonne

This 600 x 450mm sealed and locking solid top manhole cover is designed for installations where a standard plain seated cover does not provide enough control. It combines a galvanised steel lid with a polypropylene frame, sealing gasket and locking screws to help restrict odours, debris and unwanted lid movement.

Unlike a recessed cover, the lid remains visible after installation and does not accept infill materials. The shallow 30mm overall depth makes this model useful where paving or floor build-up is limited, or where an existing shallow cover is being replaced.

The galvanised steel lid provides durable load-bearing performance, while the polypropylene frame helps reduce weight and offers corrosion resistance in normal service conditions. Integrated lifting handles allow straightforward removal for maintenance without needing separate lifting keys.

This model has a fixed 5 Tonne gross plated weight rating and is intended for domestic driveways, cars and similar light vehicles in private settings. It can also suit internal service areas where the loading and floor construction are appropriate.

A common mistake is assuming a sealed cover will solve every drainage odour issue. The gasket helps restrict smells escaping through the lid, but the chamber and drainage system must also be functioning correctly.
