600 x 600mm Security Ductile Iron Manhole Cover D400

This 600 x 600mm security manhole cover and frame is a heavy duty D400 rated double triangular access cover designed for locations where load performance and restricted access are both required. It is commonly specified for defence estates, prisons, public infrastructure, highways, cable networks and sensitive service chambers.

The cover uses twin double triangular leaves rather than a single large lid. This improves handling during access while maintaining a robust seating arrangement for trafficked environments. The double leaf design is especially useful where chambers need periodic inspection but cover weight must remain manageable.

A galvanised steel inner security plate is fitted beneath the main covers, incorporating case hardened hasps for padlock security. This creates a second barrier below the outer lids and helps prevent unauthorised chamber entry. Padlocks are supplied separately to suit site security requirements.

Manufactured from spheroidal graphite ductile iron, the CD 701HKMD-SEC is built for demanding service conditions and repeated traffic loading. A non-rock three point suspension seating system helps minimise movement and noise under passing vehicles.

The 600 x 600mm clear opening suits common utility and cable chamber sizes, while the 100mm deep frame provides substantial bedding depth and frame stability for highway or commercial reinstatement work.

D400 loading is intended for BS EN 124 Group 4 applications including carriageways, hard shoulders, industrial yards, delivery areas and commercial traffic routes. It should not be used for solid wheel traffic such as forklifts unless specifically approved.

Badged versions including FW, SW or CATV are available where service identification is required. The unit is also compliant with HA104/09 design requirements for low and high risk areas.
