675 x 675mm Double Triangular Ductile Iron Manhole Cover and Frame D400

This 675 x 675mm ductile iron manhole cover and frame is a double triangular D400 rated access cover designed for heavily trafficked external environments. It is commonly specified for estate roads, delivery areas, light industrial sites, commercial yards and car parks where regular vehicle loading demands a stronger cover system.

The double triangular cover design uses two interlocking triangular leaves rather than a single large lid. This helps reduce single lift weight during access while maintaining a secure heavy duty seating arrangement. It is a practical format for chambers that require periodic inspection but operate in trafficked areas.

Manufactured from spheroidal graphite ductile iron, the CD 1659 KMD offers high strength with improved toughness and crack resistance compared with traditional cast iron products. When correctly installed into a suitable concrete surround, it is built for repeated wheel loading and demanding service conditions.

A non-rock three point suspension seating system helps the covers sit firmly in the frame, reducing movement and noise under traffic. Integral lifting key holes are provided for controlled removal using compatible heavy duty lifting keys.

The 675 x 675mm clear opening provides useful access for larger drainage chambers, utility infrastructure and network maintenance points. The deep 100mm frame offers substantial bedding depth and frame stability in high load environments.

D400 loading is intended for BS EN 124 Group 4 applications including carriageways, hard shoulders, service roads and commercial vehicle areas. It is not suitable for solid wheel traffic such as forklifts unless specifically approved for that use.

Optional FW (Foul Water) or SW (Storm Water) badging is available where chamber identification is required on site.

Manufactured from spheroidal graphite iron grade EN-GJS-500-7 to BS EN 1563:2011. This ductile iron grade is used in high load access covers because it combines high tensile strength, durability and impact resistance under repeated traffic loading.
