900 x 600mm Sealed & Locking Solid Top Manhole Cover, 5 Tonne

This 900 x 600mm sealed and locking solid top manhole cover is designed for installations where a standard plain seated cover does not provide enough control. It combines a galvanised steel lid and frame with a factory fitted sealing gasket and locking screws to help restrict odours, debris and unwanted lid movement.

Unlike a recessed cover, the lid remains visible after installation and does not accept infill materials. The raised tread top surface improves grip underfoot and provides a durable finish for regularly accessed areas.

Manufactured from galvanised steel, the cover offers robust load-bearing performance for domestic and light vehicle environments. The 50mm overall depth provides a practical frame depth for new installations and replacement work. Removal is by two CD 553 or CD 556 lifting keys, available separately.

This model has a fixed 5 Tonne gross plated weight rating and is intended for domestic driveways and similar private vehicle areas. The manufacturer also identifies garage thresholds, patios, gardens and play areas as suitable applications.

A common mistake is assuming a sealed cover will solve every drainage odour issue. The gasket helps restrict smells escaping through the lid, but the chamber and drainage system must also be functioning correctly.
